Global Medic contacted Kiwanian Gillian for volunteer help and the Kiwanians from Humber College went out on Saturday to support them by preparing and packing essential items for their Family Emergency Kits for families in Somalia. Each kit contained a household water purification unit and a hygiene kit with bars of soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes to help keep vulnerable families healthy.
Some of the team drilled holes in the water filters which will be used as the containers for their journey while other packed the hygiene packs and others unpacked and assembled hundreds of boxes while attaching with three identification and information labels.
The last action was to stack the boxed containers onto pallets. Kiwanian Gillian also invited students from Richview Collegiate Institute to pack with us.
