Day One – Kiwanians Volunteer to Prepare and Cook 15,000 Meals for Communities in Need

On Monday, December 13th, Kiwanians Gillian, Samantha, Stuart and Andre, from Kingsway Humber volunteered for 4 hours to prepare food as part of Kitchen 24‘s amazing and incredibly important project to make and deliver 15,000 meals to our city’s communities in need of food support. As this was Day One, we got busy preparing 800 kilograms of potatoes to be baked.

Each week Kitchen 24 normally prepares and donates 8,500 meals to support food programs. For the special Christmas/Holiday season Kitchen 24 is committed to making 15,000 over 4 days.

Along with thousands of meals some families will receive boxes full of children’s gifts, chocolate treats along with other individually wrapped gifts.

Groups from Police Division 13, 31, Firefighters, Paramedics, and Police Chief, MPP Tom Rakocevic, City Councillor Anthony Perruzza will be joining Kiwanians from Kingsway Humber on Thursday, December 16 to make the final project day very special. We all hope to spend a lunch together in celebration.

We encourage everyone to go to Kitchen 24’s website and find out about their food support that is happening year-round.
